From insight to impact. This guiding principle has long shaped the University of St.Gallen. Yet the great challenges of our time call for new ways of thinking and new forms of collaboration.
With the St.Gallen Collegium, the HSG is creating new structures to give researchers something of the utmost value: time, freedom and an interdisciplinary environment. As the first Swiss business university to launch a programme of excellence of this kind, the Collegium will bring together outstanding scholars and thought leaders from around the world starting in 2025. Each year, eight to ten selected fellows will pursue their own research projects while collaboratively exploring solutions to pressing societal challenges centred on a shared annual theme. The St.Gallen Collegium will become a place for interdisciplinary exchange, collaborative research, and the transfer of knowledge — advancing the mission to create knowledge that makes a meaningful impact on society and the economy.

Architectures of Abundance: Venice’s Industry and the History of Economic Growth
At the invitation of Columbia University's Center for Science and Society, Collegium Fellow Prof. Dr. Andreas Friedolin Lingg will speak about the city of Venice as a historical model of economic prosperity. The lecture combines city, industry, and growth to offer a new perspective on prosperity.
What does retreat mean in an age of constant acceleration? St.Gallen Collegium Fellow Prof. Dr. Annette Kehnel spends a day in the Wiborada cell at St. Mangen's Church. As a medieval historian who studies the relevance of monastic lifestyles today, she embarks on an unusual experiment involving silence, presence and encounter. The day becomes an open space for conversations, questions and reflections on history, the present and what moves people today.
Sustainability re-imagined. St. Gallen Collegium fellow Prof. Dr. Annette Kehnel demonstrates how early modern St. Gallen already practiced resource-efficient management and why we find it so difficult to learn from history today.
