The St. Gallen Collegium brings together innovative professors who work together with young researchers from all over the world. We deliberately focus on diversity: scientists from disadvantaged regions should also come to St. Gallen and contribute diverse perspectives to the respective issues. In addition, personalities from business, politics, society and the arts are occasionally invited to participate.
Our goal is to create a diverse collegium: interdisciplinary, international and inspiring. The composition changes every six months or year depending on the topic, thus constantly opening up new ideas and collaborations.
Are you interested in participating in the collegium as a fellow? Here you will find our new Call for Applications for the academic year 2026/2027 on the topic of Digital Sovereignty.
Senior Fellows are established professors or intellectuals who are proven experts in the field of the annual theme and who wish to contribute to the collaborative process of the Collegium year.
The following senior fellowships were awarded at the start of 2025:
In 2022, Dr. Josef Ackermann supported the pilot project for the St.Gallen Collegium (HSG-Kolleg), thereby enabling the development of the definitive concept for the St.Gallen Collegium. Furthermore, Dr. Josef Ackermann has a special connection to the achievements and person of his doctoral supervisor, Prof. Dr Hans Christoph Binswanger. The Early Career Fellowship is therefore linked to the Hans Christoph Binswanger Prize, which is aimed at postdocs from the social sciences and humanities. These are awarded for work of an integrative nature in fields to which Hans Christoph Binswanger has made a significant contribution. The winner receives the Hans Christoph Binswanger Fellowship as a prize.
Junior Fellows are advanced doctoral students who wish to enrich their research through interdisciplinary exchange and contribute their expertise to the joint project. Early Career Fellows are postdocs who are already one step further in their careers.
However, the Collegium thrives not only on the diversity of career stages, but also on the diversity of regions of origin. For the academic year 2025/2026, there were therefore two Junior and Early Career Fellowships for researchers from the Global South.
The St.Gallen Collegium would not be possible without the support of our donors. We would like to express our special thanks to our donors, whose contributions have made a fellowship possible for the first three years:
Ria & Arthur Dietschweiler Foundation, which sponsors our Ria & Arthur Dietschweiler Fellow
Senn Resources Ltd., which sponsors our SENN Fellow
Alumnus and Honorary Senator Michael Hilti, lic. oec. HSG, who sponsors our Michael Hilti Fellow
All three donors have placed a great deal of trust in the University of St.Gallen. Their past, present and future commitment is greatly appreciated by the entire HSG community.
Dr. Josef Ackermann, who endowed the Hans Christoph Binswanger Fellowship
The anonymous donor whose extremely valuable contribution is used to fund the salaries of two doctoral students or postdoctoral fellows from universities in the Global South during one academic year.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to everyone for their trust and commitment to the University of St.Gallen.
