How can medieval ways of thinking help us to look at current social challenges in a new light? A recent episode of Sternstunde Philosophie on Swiss Radio and Television explores this question.
Featuring two of our Fellows: Ria & Arthur Dietschweiler Fellow Prof. Dr Annette Kehnel discusses alternative economic and social models with St. Gallen Collegium Fellow Dr. Wolfram Eilenberger. At the heart of the discussion is the thesis that a look back at the Middle Ages can provide surprising insights into contemporary issues such as sustainability, the common good and social organisation.
The conversation opens up exciting perspectives beyond conventional narratives of progress and demonstrates how historical insights can be brought into current debates. We are delighted to see how our Fellows combine research with social relevance in public debates and provide food for thought on key issues of our time. This is precisely the motivation behind the St. Gallen Collegium. We aim to bring together people from diverse backgrounds who can develop new insights together and share them with society.

Whether through media appearances, publications or events, these contributions document how new perspectives on key issues of our time emerge and gain visibility at the Collegium. They highlight how academic work and public discourse intersect.
